Better Europe’s Joost Mulder commented on stereotypes on lobbying in De Ochtend, a morning show on Flemish public broadcaster VRT’s Radio 1.

Whenever a major piece of European legislation is on the table – the AI Act, the GDPR, the Nature Restoration Act – they’re there: lobbyists. There are around 25,000 of them active in Brussels, and together they spend 1.3 billion euros a year to shape legislation to their advantage. It’s a world that’s all too easily labelled as shady, but is that cliché really accurate? Tom Antonissen headed to the European Quarter himself to find out.
